👋

Sean Boedewig is the sole founder behind ListenUp.  As a high school student, he is a passionate advocate for mental health equity through demonstrating servant leadership, empowering every voice, and giving back to the community.  Outside of prioritizing academics and spending time with friends, Sean is primarily associated with being a Speech and Debate competitor, Eagle Scout, volleyball player, theatrical performer, and volunteer at Holy Redeemer Hospital's Behavioral Health Unit.

Story Behind The Project

Within junior year of high school (2024), Sean formulated the idea of ListenUp whilst contemplating topics for his Speech and Debate story (a competitive performance themed around a societal issue).  With a lifelong fascination of psychology and mental health services, the idea of behavioral health equity stood out to him.  Being affiliated with the Deaf community through family members, Sean researched into the Deaf's challenges when it comes to accessing mental health services.  After realizing the severity of this issue, Sean desired to do more than just perform a competitive act on the subject. To facilitate widespread awareness and action, Sean began formulating ListenUp.  This is the second version of the website- revised for a more clarified message and concrete initiatives.
